The exact boundaries of the region are a matter of debate, as there are differing interpretations. Some argue that the boundary should extend into the interior of the country, bordering Spain, while others believe that the concept of the Silver Coast refers only to areas close to the coast, with its limit being the Atlantic Ocean.

The Silver Coast is approximately 240 km long, extending approximately to Santa Cruz, in the south of the country, and to Espinho, in the north.
